AIRPORT MASTER PLAN
Background
The Pueblo Memorial Airport (PUB) is conducting a Master Plan Study, a process that will be completed in 2021. The Master Plan will serve as the Airport’s 20-year blueprint for the layout, improvement, and expansion of its physical facilities. This Study will serve to provide up-to-date information about the Airport and identify possible new projects that will support the Airport’s long-term viability and enhance facility safety, while supporting economic development and the Airport’s commitment to be a good neighbor. The Airport must have a current Airport Layout Plan (an output of a Master Plan) to be eligible for project funding from the FAA. The FAA provides 90% of the funding for the planning process.
Economic Importance of the Pueblo Airport
The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) Division of Aeronautics undertook the 2020 Colorado Aviation Economic Impact Study (CEIS) to calculate and document the quantitative contributions of aviation to the state. Based on 2018 data, the 2020 CEIS results demonstrate the significant economic impact the state’s airport system has on each airport community as well as the statewide economy. PUB is one of 14 commercial service airports contributing to the state’s aviation economic impacts. The CEIS considered both on-airport and off-airport visitor spending economic impacts. According to the 2020 CEIS, PUB’s total economic impact is comprised of 775 jobs, $38.66 million in payroll, $55.21 million in value-added impacts (this is a measure of the economic productivity of each aviation-related business establishment, calculated as business revenues earned minus the costs of purchasing goods and services from other businesses), and $103.71 million in business revenues.
